TTAB Game Log  07-24-04

Postgame -

Okay, so the whole war lasts about 2 years. Losses are heavy on both sides.  The attackers were inventive, and seemed to find work-arounds for a lot of things thrown up to stop them.  During the course of the war Sterling and Kei manage to drastically improve the military structure, and come up with some very innovative solutions for dealing with the "jellyfish."  Rune provides trump-creation support for the troops, so assume that the military how has trumps of a lot of really good strategic locations.  And of course Kev did his crazy warding shit, helping a lot with protecting areas and beefing up the durability of the military hardware.  Fatima and Wynn had it pretty easy in the city, as the battle never reached quite that far.  They probably just got to help out as necessary.

The war could have gone on for a long time, but it was ended by two people:  Merlin and Brand. The official reports downplay Brand somewhat, but the truth is he was very instrumental. Kei and Rune get points for assisting early on with crude attempts at communication. That paved the way for the later work. Basically, Brand and Merlin were able to push past the horribly alien mentallity of the jellyfish and figure out just what was going on.

The creatures are called "radiants." They come from a place called the Deep Radiance. It's literally a place of nothing but light. No atmosphere. No ground. Just pure light. They are natural shadow travelers, and developed

their crystalline form for interacting with distant and alien and environs.  The major shadowstorm from Patternfall freaked them out. When another big one came through recently, they decided to investigate. "Investigate" apparently meant that they would grab a bunch of random things and take them home for examination. Since there aren't really any other sentient races in their neck of the woods, they weren't too clear on how to deal with other ones. Heck, they didn't even think you were sentient at first. When they met concerted resistance in Argent, they figured that must be the Bad Place associated with the storms, and decided to try and eliminate it.

So, everything's been straightened out and discussions of an embassy has been discussed.

So, feel free to send me anything else you need to send me regarding the  next ten years. Here are some things that have come up so far. .

Kevin:  Word has it that Kevin has been given permission to extensively research the Pattern in Argent. Also, there was a period of about a few months after the war where people would get random trump calls from Kevin in which he would only scream insanely and hang up. Towards the end of the 10 years, he volunteers himself for the role of ambassador to Tir-na Nog'th. Yes, it's apparently occupied in Brand's new cosmology. More on this below.

Fatima:  Has been seen regularly in the company of Rinaldo. OooooOOOoo...

Kei:  Outside of playing general, Kei has been raising her son Kaji in the palace, figuring that New Kyoto is not exactly safe.  A few years after the war, Kaji begins spending alternate weeks with Julian.  She's also been re-working the army into more of a bushido style of military.

Wynn:  Continues to lead the Monster Squad.

Sterling:  Continues to lead the Navy (as far as I know, at least.)

Rune: Same shit as usual.

As for the NPCs:

Rinaldo: In addition to his duties as ambassador (which largely consist of attending state functions and schmoozing), he begins attending school at the Argent University. He's going through an art program.

Dalt: Smash! Seriously, he just hangs out with Rinaldo for a decade, and maintains security for the consulate.

Merlin: Same shit as usual.

Martin: He finally leaves the palace periodically. He doesn't usually answer trump calls. He's usually armed to the teeth.

Benedict: He's returned to Avalon after walking the Pattern. His vineyard is look fabu.

Bleys: He has been trying to weasel his way into becoming king of Amber.

Brand: Not interested in Kingship apparently, just playing with his new universe.

Caine: He is also trying to weasel his way into becoming king of Amber.   He's got a weird claim to the throne based off of some weird timeline shit and "Oberon said so.  It's generally believed the Oberon did his bit in order to piss off both Bleys and Eric.

Corwin: He's king!

Deirdre: Missing. Still.

Delwin: He's moved into Tir-na Nog'th. Apparently his maternal grandmother, Titania, has claimed queenship over that kingdom. (Queendom?) Their people are known as the "High Folk." They're generally human in appearance, though the older ones have a bit of a cold and alien caste to them. Calling them "Fae," "Fairies," "Fair Folk" or, worst of all, "Elves," only gets your ass handed to you. No, they don't have pointy ears.

Eric: Dead! But otherwise fine.

Fiona: Notably missing. She's still readily available via Trump but seems to be off in shadow and "up to something." Towards the end of the 10 year jump, she walks the Logrus.

Flora: She has run off to Amber, and is currying favor with Brand, Bleys and Caine.

Gerard: Living with Julian and Caine in Julian's domain. Receiving regular rashers of shit from his brothers over having walked Brand's Pattern.

Jasra: Receiving visitors at the Keep of the Four Worlds. Regardless of when you visit during these 10 years, she's at some stage of pregnancy.

Julian: Living in his new realm, ruling.  The patch of forest that is under his control has been dubbed "Jukai." It apparently means "Sea of Forests." He accepts visitors, though Sterling still has to leave his gun outside.

Llewella: In a surprising twist, Llewella finds religion and joins the Church of the Serpent.  She manages to pull some strings and get positioned as an archbishopric.

Random: In Argent, lookin' good.  He's one of the notables who have recently walked Corwin's Pattern. He's still Weaponsmaster, and has a weekly jazz gig in Demontown.

Sand: See Delwin.
