All gather in Merlin's office to chat. Fatima tells the others about the personality cults in the city and that Penelope's has attacked her. Rune mentions that he's been receiving odd group Trump calls. Fatima tells the others that Corwin has left and designated herself as Regent. Everyone seems okay with it.
Kei, Merlin and Rune go to see the body of the unknown shapeshifer that infiltrated the army - it is a Mule. Its phyiscal form is that of a Tendou, a race from the Black Zone.
Fatima goes to a private room and Trumps Rinaldo in. She breaks up with him, then goes back to work on notifying the diplomatic community concerning the change in state in Argent.
A servant comes in with news that the Castle is being attacked. Armed insurgents are entrenched inside the main doors. Fatima responds but notices that the attack seems ill-conceived for how effective it was executed. Thinking that it's a diversionary attack, she contacts the other guard units in the Castle. The armory guards are not responding.
Kevin discovers that the plumbing in his Club has been infested with magic-eating 3 ft long worms. He looks for others around the city and finds several, including some undermining the Pattern. He captures some of the worms and begins experimenting on them. Sterling joins him in an advisory role.
Rune, Merlin and Kei discuss the implications of the dead soldier and Kei volunteers to contact the next of kin of the man he was impersonating.
As Fatima rushes to the armory, she encounters dead guards en route. At the armory, Fatima discovers that a collection of high end guns is missing.
Rune, back in the Castle, sees a serious group of servants heading for the royal wing and follows them. Kei, having returned to her room, steps out and sees them go by toward Corwin's room. Kei and Rune charge the group of servants.
Fatima hears from guard units reporting in that a group of bodies was found in the garage and that some cars are missing. Fatima trumps Kev to let him know that the Castle is under attack. Sterling Trumps through to the Castle, while Kevin retrieves the Jewel of Quintessence and follows.
Rune and Kei attack the 'servants' outside of Corwin's doors. Kei squashes the first guy and another shoots her in the arm. A melee ensues as Rune dodges bullets.
Sterling orders the Silver Knights into the air to look for the stolen vehicles.
Rune grabs one of the 'servants' who is reaching into a bag. The servant falls as does the bomb he was grabbing. Rune picks up the bomb and Trumps out. Kei dispatches the next to last invader and attempts to question the sole survivor. But he takes poison and dies.
Kev phases into the lobby and attacks with the Jewel of Quintessence. He kills all but one of the attackers. The last guy left surrenders. The effort with the Jewel causes Kevin to become very pale and wan looking so Fatima asks that he give the Jewel to her.
Sterling's Knights report that the stolen cars have been found abandoned in the city with the guns in their trunks. He orders a watch set up around the vehicles.
Rune Trumps Kei to the infirmary and then Trump calls Fatima to report the fracas. Fatima and Sterling check around for other incursions or weirdness.
Fatima Trumps Merlin who responds weakly. Merlin pulls Fatima through to the library where he is slumped over a table with burning blood everywhere. Fatima Trumps Rune and asks him to Trump her and Merlin to the Font of Life. Sterling moves faster and takes Fatima, Merlin and Rune into the Waves where Merlin's blood stops burning. From there, Rune, Fatima and Merlin Trump to a sitting room in the Keep of the Four Worlds.
Brand, dressed in a elegant evening robe peeks into the sitting room. He gestures to Rune and Fatima to follow him. Sterling Trumps Fatima to get the Jewel of Quintessence back from her. Ooops!
Kevin and Sterling go the library where Merlin was stabbed. The blood on the table is still burning. Kevin does some woo-woo and determines that the blood is unstable, mixing with Logrus, etc. A knife is found that looks like it is made of stone and raw Chaos.
Sterling Trumps to Fatima to report on the knife and tells Kev that Brand is working on Merlin. Kev goes to secure the Pattern and Fatima tells Brand what kind of weapon caused Merlin's injury.
Sterling fills Kei in and has her take over the Castle situations.
Brand calmly transfuses Merlin with Rune's blood. And explains to the bewildered Fatima that while serious, the injury is woo-woo and anyone could have helped. Brand finishes up and gives Fatima and Rune all of the blood-stained equipment. He sees Rune, Fatima and the comatose Merlin on their way. And then Trumps Gerard to suggest that he go see them.
The three return to Argent and set Merlin up in the infirmary. As Fatima is checking in with the general goings-on, a servant reports that Prince Gerard has arrived. Fatima and Sterling fill him in.
Rune checks on Kaji, he is okay. Rune then procures some Ben & Jerry's from Shadow and Trumps it to Brand with his thanks.
The next morning, Kev wakes up and does some paperwork. The Tellurian ambassador has filled a complaint -- evidence has shown that Kevin appeared in and then trashed one of their high-tech labs. Kev and Fatima discuss this.
Rune looks over the Trump-out spot of the would-be assassins.
Kei summons the spirit of the dead bomber. She learns that the attackers were mercenaries hired through a mediator and have no knowledge concerning their true employer.
Kev and Fatima continue their discussion, touching on an official event and the possibility of Fatima becoming attuned to a or both Jewels.
Rune talks to Kei, then Fatima, about contacting Chaos to check on the assassins. He gets the okay to call Dara, which he does and brings her through to check on her injured son, Merlin. Dara requests to see Fatima.
Rune goes to his room to find every surface covered in ravens. He Trumps Kevin and complains to him. Kevin boasts the warding in the Castle, yet again! Rune goes into Shadow and Trumps Brand. Brand steers him toward the new Church of the Raven within Argent. Rune then talks to Kevin about the Church and the two decide to pay it a visit.
Fatima goes looking for Kevin, but can't find him. So she retires to Corwin's -- now her -- office. Underneath the desk blotter, Fatima finds a Trump of a storage room.
Kei visits the dead shapeshifter / infiltrator's widow and discovers that she had no idea that the Captain wasn't the man she married.
Rune and Kevin got to the Church of the Raven and get separated. Kevin talks to a priestess and Rune talks to The Raven in a vision. The Raven describes herself as Corwin's Anima.
Fatima promotes Gabriel Johnston to the position of Lord High Constable. As she is clearing out her office at the Constabulary, she learns that a cop-bar that covered for a personality cult for Fatima has been bombed. Leaving that issue in Johnston's care, Fatima returns to the Castle and Trumps to the storage room. To discover it to be one small room with no entrance or exit and full of filing cabinets with her name and the name of her siblings on it.
