United States Air Force (USAF) Classification Statement: "This information is unavailable to anyone without a specific reason for access."

USAF SECURITY SERVICE
Potential SG team members
From: Major General Hammond, Commanding Officer, Project Stargate
cc: President of the United States of America, U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff
This transmission has two parts:
1) background information
2) current initiatives
TOPIC ONE OF TWO: BACKGROUND
For those of you not already familiar with the origins of the Stargate, here
it is in a nutshell: back before World War Two a strange, giant ring
-- about three metres (ten feet) in diameter -- was found by an American archaeologist
during a dig in Egypt. It was brought back to the U.S. and
everyone forgot about it over the years, but decades later a researcher was working on deciphering the strange heiroglyphs on it and realised it might be something very dangerous and powerful.
The thing was handed over to the USAF, which hid it in a top-secret underground complex in Colorado. We eventually deciphered the heiroglyphs and realised the thing was a portal to cover vast distances between the stars... thus, a 'stargate'.
My predecessor as commanding officer of this project, General West, sent a team of USAF officers and enlisted men, along with a scientist, through the gate to determine what lay on the other side and thus assess the stargate's usefulness as a tool for science, communication, travel, war, or what-have-you.
To their surprise, they found a planet inhabited by humans who spoke an ancient Egyptian dialect. It turns out that thousands of years ago an alien race had kidnapped people from Earth, enslaved them and spread them throughout the galaxy on various planets in order to make them work mining minerals and whatnot to fuel the aliens' technology.
The ancient Egyptians had risen up against the aliens, driven them off of
Earth and buried the stargate so they couldn't return. In all the commotion
the aliens lost the proper code they would have had to program into the stargate
in order to return to Earth anyway, and they largely forgot about
Earth over time.
The USAF expedition encountered these aliens. Their technology is still far superior to ours (they have space ships, ray guns, etc.), but now that we've advanced enough to become a threat to them (they've learned that we have nuclear bombs, for example), they're out to find us and eradicate us.
They still don't have the transit code to our planet, but they're gating to all the planets in the stargate's computer as fast as they can in order to find us. They haven't found us yet... but they will.
TOPIC TWO OF TWO: CURRENT INITIATIVE
Realising that the clock is ticking and that our present technology is no match for the aliens, we're going on the offensive. In a top-secret project known only to the president of the U.S., the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff and those working on the project at the secret base here in Colorado, the USAF has assembled several teams comprised of the most highly skilled military (and a few civilian) personnel available.
Much like our enemy, the mission of these teams is to gate through to as many
worlds as they can, as quickly as they can, in an attempt to locate and stall
the enemy in any way possible: turn enslaved human populations of other
planets against him, cut off his sources of supply, and retrieve
technology we can use in our struggle.
Each team will be comprised of approximately four such dedicated individuals: combat and survival specialists, linguists, anthropologists, archaeologists, medical doctors, and so on.
Each mission will involve walking through the stargate, being instantaneously transported to another world and never knowing what would be found there: nice climate or nasty, enemy or no, humans or no... perhaps even the enemy homeworld!
Even if humans are found, their language might or might not be intelligible, they might or might not have much in the way of technology, and they might treat USAF personnel like gods, devils, or anything in-between. It will be our task to find out what the situation was on each world, decide if intervention is necessary, advantageous or even possible, and move on to the next world as quickly as possible in the search for any advantage we can use to defeat our enemy.
So, are you up to the challenge? Because time... is running out!
