PYSCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION - SOLART
At 15:30, the doorway between the Chronos sick bay and Dr. Talt’s office is open.
[Talt] * from inside * “Come in.”
::Lieutenant Talt looks up, a momentary look of distraction clouding her grey eyes. With a quick shake of her head, she focuses on the man before her. A smile warms her face.::
[Talt] ~~ Thank you for coming, Doctor. Please bear with me on this. ~~ * There is a sense of playfulness from Talt, as well as a feeling that she is going through the motions of a well-practiced ritual. *
[Talt] “Doctor, just the man I was hoping to see. I’m having a terrible time with these cases. But first . . .”
:: Lt. Talt turns away before Solart can respond and starts rooting around on her makeshift desk. A quick survey of her office paints quite a picture. There are a number of various sized packing crates stacked up in the corner of the office. Some of them are half-open and spilling out a wide variety of items. Datapads, antiques, holo-cubes and a large number of brightly colored fabric somethings drape over the crates. ::
:: Lt. Talt's desk is likewise cluttered and jumbled with things teetering dangerously near the desk edge. Among the datapads and scarfs on her desk, Doctor Solart can spot a Klingon D'K Tahg, a small metal flute, a stuffed doll, a miniture of an Excaligur class starship, two silver enameled plates, a copper and silver necklace with a large tear-dropped shaped pendant, a small fern in clay pot, three small books, and a small statue of a wooden horse. There are a number of other items too obscured by the general clutter to make out. ::
[Talt] “Where are they? Where are they?”
:: Lieutenant Talt mutters to herself as she searches through the clutter. Her actions disturb the jumble and several items drop off her desk onto the grey carpeted floor. Mirifice glances briefly at the fallen junk, shrugs, and continues with her search. After a few seconds, she finds what she’s looking for and turns back to Doctor Solart. Proudly displayed in her hands is a medium blue sized plate holding 6 large cookies. ::
* When the items fall from Lt. Talt’s desk, there will be a brief increase in her attention level. *
[Talt] “Would you like a cookie, Doctor? I replicated them from my own recipe.”
:: Lieutenant Talt smiles up at Solart cheerfully. ::
:: Solart looks directly at the doctor, and smiles a very small and wry smile. Pausing for just a second he asks quietly ::
[Solart] “Which ones do you recommend Doctor?”
:: Talt smiles at Solart. ::
[Talt] "I'm afraid they're all the same. It's a toll house recipe that I adapted with white chocolate. I've always enjoyed them. "
%telepathy% "Don't worry, Doctor. It's not that big a deal."
[Solart] "Ohh chocolate?? A secret weakness Doc, you've picked up on it already. Thank you."
:: Solart leans over and picks up one of the cookies and smiles that slight smile once more. ::
~~ How did she pick up on that... hmmmmm.....~~
:: Solart looks around behind him trying to find a good place to sit. ::
:: Talt follows Solart's gaze around the cluttered room and then startles. ::
[Talt] "Oh, sorry, Doctor. Me and my mess."
:: She chuckles gently at herself and walk over to one of the buried chairs and removes a large handful of brightly colored lamee dresses(?) from it. She drops these on the chair behind the desk and smiles a bit sheepishly at Solart while gesturing to the cleared chair. ::
:: Resuming his stoic (?) composure once more, Adrian sat down at the offered chair and looked directly at the doctor once more. ::
%telepathy% "So what is this entire Psych test about doctor? Surely they've already sussed us out beforehand."
%telepathy% "They had sussed out Commander Sixx as well and look what happened." * Talt's telepathic "voice" is very sad. * :: Then she concentrates on the act of speaking.: :
[Talt] "So, Doctor. I was thinking . . . as the only two full Betazed on board, we might arrange some sort of telepathic protocol to be used in cases of emergency. Would that be alright with you?"
:: Frowning slightly, Solart leans forward. "Certainly doctor. Most of our mutual emergencies may very well be medical. I cannot see myself being on the bridge as much as you, but I will be more than happy to set up some emergency system. How strong is your telepathic ability? Can you hear me from the other end of the ship?"
:: Talt smiles a little and leans back against the edge of her desk. She folds her arms across her chest. Her smile is a little modest. ::
* Her thoughts project a strong confidence. *
[Talt] "Actually, my range is more on the planetary scale. I may have some difficulty with ships that are not within close sensor range but from end of the ship to the other, I can do that."
:: At the verification of Talt's telepathic skills, Solart blinks once and regains his composure once more. ::
:: Talt shifts a little. ::
[Talt] "Medical emergencies concern me a little, Doctor. My physician's specialties are pretty limited to neurology and endocronology. I have almost no experience with internal medicine or pathology or virulogy. I know that the crew is too small for you to have an experienced nurse to assist you. I hope that I won't let you down."
[Solart] "Well Doctor, I am impressed. I have nowhere near that amount of control over my telepathic abilities. Very close ship to ship communications I can do clearly and I have planetary level empathy, but... wow."
:: Solart settles back in the chair. ::
[Solart] "However in regards to the lack of medical support, I will no doubt find your assistance in neurological and endocronological disciplines extremely useful, and I have that computer programmed attitude to help me if all else fails."
:: Talt laughs at Solart's description of the EMHP. ::
[Talt] "Well, good. I promise I won't yell out to you if it's not an emergency. I just wanted to clear the possibility with beforehand. It's really the away teams that have me concerned. This is my first shipboard assignment. And well. . . I just a a little nervous about being in the field."
[Solart] "Oh, trust me on this score, Doctor. You'll have no problems from what I've seen already. I also offer my help in the counselling and psychology department. I must admit with little false modesty that I'm not too bad in messing AND helping with the mind. Ship board life is often very tedious times punctuated by moments of extreme pressure and crisis. But I enjoy it despite these times."
:: Solart relaxes a bit further and starts to sport the wry grin almost continuously. ::
:: When Solart mentions that he has some familiarity with counseling, Talt's eyes start to sparkle and she just barely represses a clap of glee.::
[Talt] "Oh, Doctor. That'd be wonderful. I'm a little new to this position and I would really appreciate any advice you'd care to share."
:: She pauses for a moment and look over at Solart a bit shyly.::
[Talt] "I think it's going to be a real pleasure sharing a sickbay with you, Doctor Solart. I'm starting to really look forward to this mission."
:: Solart leans forward slightly and his eyes appear to change from a dull blue to a glittering blue that livens up his face. ::
[Solart] "I am looking forward to it as well Doctor. I must give you a word of warning. As you know, I have my son aboard and you would be well advised to just ensure your office door is locked when you aren't in there... He can be a tad... ummm... enthusiastic at times.... I'm sure you'll notice that everything in sickbay of any importance has been placed just that bit higher than he is."
:: Talt smiles widely at the mention of Saul. ::
[Talt] "I was the same way when I was young. Of course, it wasn't machines for me. But nothing else was safe. I'll make sure that the D'K'Tagh is gone. And I will take your advice."
:: Talt's smile wavers a little at the mention of the knife but comes back on strong shortly thereafter. ::
~~Hmmm. A Ferengi could have picked that waver up at 100 metres....~~
[Solart] "Another good suggestion is that if you are trying to work while he is around and are finding it difficult, then just activate the EMHP. Not only will it immediately divert Saul, it'll also give that holographic attitude time to vent, which is all so important for the mind."
:: Talt begins to laugh behind one hand. ::
[Talt] "Oh, Doctor. That is absolutely evil. You have a concealed vicious streak in there."
%telepathically% But not officially. and adds a telepathic wink.
:: At the mention of a concealed vicious streak, Solart's eyes positively glow and his mouth forms a quirky smile. One hand comes up to rest on his chest and he starts to project pure innocence as strong as he can towards the doctor. ::
[Solart] “Who me? I'm sure you must be mistaken Counsellor. What would lead you to that impression?"
[Talt] "Well, I think that our time together is almost up. Maybe later we could get together and practice those etiquettes."
:: Then Talt's eyes get comically large and she blushes furiously. ::
[Talt] "Oh, Doctor. Excuse me. I guess even Counselors are subject to Freudian slips. Pardon me!"
:: And she continues to laugh quietly. ::
:: Watching the doctor squirm slightly after her slip, his eyes positively glow with supressed humour and mischieviousness, and possibly secret delight at the doctor's uncomfort. ::
[Solart] "Why Doctor! What are you suggesting? :: the grin returns :: "I'm sure I could find some time to meet to discuss these protocols with you.... Let me know anytime!"
:: Adrian's eyes continue to glimmer for the rest of the meeting with the humour of the situation evident. ::
:: Talt stands up from where she was leaning against her desk. She walks over to Solart and extends her hand. ::
[Talt] "Doctor. It's been a thorough pleasure talking to you. I've really enjoyed it. And I will call you and schedule that meeting. Count on it."
:: Solart stands up and shakes hands with Doctor... and then moves toward the door. ::
[Solart] "This session has been more enjoyable than you perhaps realise Doctor. I've had a good and fun break and Saul didn't interrupt us... Surprisingly..."
:: Talt smiles warmly at Solart. ::
:: Solart approaches the door which opens to allow him to leave the office. Behind him can be seen a somewhat exasperated EMHP and half a boy. ::
%telepathy% * shrug * “or maybe not... have a good day Doctor... I'll see you for that meeting or your physical I'm sure"
* The door closes on the not-so-suppressed
sound of merry laughter. *
