2.  What does Robin believe that the events she witnessed on the Black Road mean? Is there a message and a source, or are they totally random?

Robin is not entirely sure.  And doesn't like thinking about it.  But lately the things she saw and experienced have been preying on her mind.  Her intuition tells her that the events of the Black Road are vitally important -- at the same time as telling her that they are misleading lies.  Robin can't decide how to interpret those feelings yet.

Being who she is, Robin is convinced that the events of the Black Road are of great personal significance, not of universal importance.  Robin can't help but believe that she is the center of the universe, therefore the messages of the Black Road are meant for her and her alone.

She believes deeply that there *is* a message, that somehow mixed up in that confusing swirl is her way home.  And the answer to what's happened to her.  But she can't decipher it yet.

The source?  Same source as the Black Road itself -- the traitor Princes Corwin and Bleys.  Robin isn't sure if it's both or one or the other, but she's pretty sure that her bastard uncles are playing with her mind.  Which makes her doubly suspicious of the meaning behind the message.  But she still can't ignore it -- those two are too powerful, tricky and downright evil to just disregard.

On the Black Road, things were almost making sense -- the shadow of herself, the phantom Benedict(?), Brandom (?), the army of shades of Corwin and Bleys' forces, the firearms.  Almost making sense if one discounted the choking black fogs, the chiaroscuro landscaped, etc.

But... but when she touched the crown, it all went... wacky.  Now Robin doesn't know if she attended Eric's coronation or not -- so strong was the image of sitting next to Corwin.  She doesn't know if somehow she caused the shattering of this place's Pattern -- so strong is the image of stabbing... someone, blood everywhere, flames and smoke.  Was the abandoned city Amber?  Is that why she's come to this place of phantoms?  Because her memory of Amber has been tampered with?  She doesn't know...

Corwin in red-light, walking the Pattern incorrectly.  Did Corwin somehow re-inscribe the Pattern within herself?  Is that why she can't 'walk' her way out of this nightmare?  Was Random shooting her a prophecy?  A warning?  Or an attempt to scare her off from a potential ally?

She doesn't know!  And it's driving her nuts!
