Stoke -
Hawkmaster of Arden
(casting - Jack Palance)
Rattle's understudy
and eventual replacement at
The Mews. Equally as stern and -- if possible -- even more
laconic than Rattle, Stoke had large boots to fill when he took over
the Hawks of Arden. Wisely, he never attempted to take over
Rattle's duties with Robin as well, remaining more of a crotchety
uncle-type than a foster parent.
However, it was Stoke who taught Robin all she knows
about alcohol and drinking, both the good and the ill. The
taciturn old Ranger's various stills and recipes were legendary amongst
the Rangers even while Rattle was alive. And has only become moreso
since her death.
Stoke's ability with the Hawks is equally
impressive. It's common knowledge among the Rangers that Stoke doesn't
talk much because it's hard for him to put the calls, chirrups and
feather-ruffles he normally thinks in into words.
Stoke was still in residence at The Mews when Robin
left to travel the Black Road. But since then, she has learned
that the he marched toward Chaos in his Lord's service.
