Fetch
(casting - Luke Perry)
Robin never knew what
brought Fetch's father,
Cutter -- a brilliant but initially soft man by Ranger standards -- to
the service of the Warden of Amber. And true to Ranger tradition,
Robin didn't ask and didn't care. the only thing that mattered
was
how the two performed after they arrived within the ranks.
Fetch was young at the time, close to Robin's eight
years, and the two soon became fast friends -- circumstances forcing
them both to be running around The Mews while their fathers were off
'riding.' While Rattle was never a mother to the young boy, Fetch
had enough respect for the old falconer and her control of Robin that
he didn't go out of his way to cross her. Or at least to get
caught at it.
Fetch had just enough of his father's ingenuity --
and Robin had just enough of her father's strength and her own
recklessness -- that the two of them soon became known as 'the Tinder,'
meaning that
if a fire had started, Robin and Fetch were probably somewhere near the
source.
As the two aged into adolescence together, a few
exploratory kisses and pets were made. But it was mutually
decided that there
were more fun things to do with one another than...that stuff - like
seeing
if a baby hippogriff could be raised to be hand-fed.
Fetch had a stunning ear for mimicry and music and
from him Robin picked up much of her aesthetic sense for melody and
birdcalls. Which are not terribly separate for either of the
Tinder.
While Robin was still a young woman, and shortly
after her training under Julian intensified, whatever had brought
Cutter and
Fetch to Arden changed. And Cutter, with Julian's blessing,
retired
from the Rangers. Robin doesn't really know where Cutter and
Fetch
went - somewhere Portward she thinks. But she hasn't seen or
heard
from her childhood friend for decades.
