Diaries

Background

Name 3 people that your character feels close to and why.
1-- Ajanon Beleco was Saphir's best friend growing up and co-leader of the gang of Heliolites.  Both longed for more adventure and both felt for themselves a greater sense of destiny/purpose than their peers felt. Both valued in deep passionate way the importance of loyalty, friendship and comraderie.
Both identified in being open-ended bisexual; meaning they didn't like boys and girls, they liked who they liked -- whatever they were. Both experimented in this while young.  Especially but not exclusively with one another.  Eventually it grew into something more.  Both have each other's backs (no pun intended).  Both would die for each other.   Ajanon now serves as the High Lord (Admiral) of the Air Naval Intelligence on Shar-da-Kor.

2-- Keera Tower was a natural leader in similar style to Saphir in the same gang.  She grew up brave and bold, always supporting Saphir when he was trying to persuade the others in the taking of a risk. She lent him a high sense of strategic planning, thinking through the things Saphir wanted to do.
Keera was more emotionally sensitive and Saphir's confidant.  She knew that Saphir had fallen in love with Aj.  And eventually Saphir fell in love with her too.  And vice versa.  She knew and guarded Saphir's secrets, insecurities.
Like Saphir, she felt displaced but now works in government -- executive branch -- on Shar-da-Kor.  Her position as High Regent has significant power.

3--  Moire.  Even though it is obvious that she has always wanted to control and manipulate Saphir.  And that she loves Saphir only as her vehicle to Amber.  Still she values him nonetheless.  In his mind -- regardless of the reasons.
She has been there and opened or closed, when necessary, the right doors.  They have shared much laughed and loved together.  Saphir can relate to her ambition, although he doesn't feel ambition in the same way.   Moire also strokes his ego and Saphir has lots of buried ambition that Moire's total consumption with ambition resonates to.
Moire is true about her motives and upfront in what is important to her.  Saphir sees that as superior to all the courting sycophants. And he has encountered many of those.

Name 3 people that your character considers enemies and why.
1-- Castlin.  Saphir's stepbrother and oldest of the brood. He always resented Saphir's strength, agility, high sense of adventure and risk taking.   Castlin was jealous and petty, hating Llewella and wanting to see Saphir fail at everything.
The last Saphir knew, Castlin was High Lord of the Heights Security Forces.  How he got that is a mystery to Saphir.  Not that he wasn't immensely talented but the Heights are usually all about pedigree, which Castlin doesn't have.

2-- Jara Jenek was a woman Saphir met and dated in Rebma.  He thought she just loved him for his family jewels as it were.  She claims it wasn't that at all.  Either way, Saphir wasn't in love, and didn't trust her.  So he dumped her and she was furious!!  Jara has even hired assassins in the past to take Saphir out.  But he wasn't able to ever prove it.
Jara is a beauty, but shallow, vain and greedy.  Saphir doesn't know what that bitch is up to now.  And while her family is fairly powerful in Rebma, that hasn't helped her where Saphir is concerned.

3-- Eldin Saclaw is a member of the upper class and the courts of Rebma.   All that Saphir knows about him is that he was vying for Moire's affections... until Saphir showed up.  He may have even been the front runner, not that Moire ever indicated such.  Saphir does know that he is super skilled in combat.  Probably something else that Saphir negated him on -- oops.

Physical

Describe your character's favorite clothing styles for different occasions and/or professions and why they like them.
Saphir prefers deep shadow night blues -- in silks, velvets and leathers.  He wears capes, cloaks, and tight tunics but with room to breath and maneuver in.
While Saphir enjoys formal clothing, when in action or combat he prefers tight tunics that don't constrain.  Not very thick.  So he will let the formal come with the cloaks , capes etc, and then have simple cas underneath.  That he is always ready to throw off the formals and have at it in.
For general around-the-house or on a camping trip, Saphir likes shorts, white silk shirts or vests -- all in dark blues or greens or browns or blacks.  Very camouflagey, never bright colors and always blended.

Describe a few signature behaviors of your character (i.e. always flicks his cigarettes away with his middle finger, brushes a loose curl off her forehead and tucks it behind her ear when confused, etc.)
Always puts his hand back through his hair when he is either stressed in a
thought problem -- truly stressed and not super comfy -- or trying to flirt with a girl.
When talking in conversation with those familiar and comfortable, he will
acknowledge by saying "mmm" instead of verbally saying a word such as "ok" or "right".
When he doesn't trust someone, he is quiet, withdrawn and won't take his eyes off them.
When he really cares for someone, he laughs alot and touches them often.

What are your character's hobby(ies) and what do they like about them?  Dislike about them?
He loves all manners of flight and hangliding, cliff diving, parachuting, parasailing, ballooning, etc. because he loves that feeling of freedom and being able to see all / encompass everything.
He loves fencing and dueling.  Essentially, he loves when his instincts take over and do the thinking.  That split second rapidity.  He is most comfortable in this mode as opposed to long drawn out rational processing.  Even though he can do that fairly well.
He dislikes having to use devices to fly, and he dislikes having to yield to the wind.  He dislikes having to be patient and wade through the slow parts to get going in the extreme sports.

What is your character's favorite physical environment and why?
The air.  Saphir was airborn and grew up on rifts where the air around you was the control, the stability, the bringer and keeper of things  He learned that you were/are so much more in control when free in the air.

What is your character's favorite cultural environment and why?
Either festival or military tournaments.  Saphir loves the challenge, the sportsmanship and most of the brother(sister)hood.  The spirit of celebrating  companionship and unity is the ultimate for him.  When it involves competition, he is usually he assured of doing well and thus fitting in/being accepted

Psychological

What is something that your character would never do and why?
Betray a friendship and or not protect a friend or not stand by them in danger.  Saphir's entire identity emerged from the gang/brotherhood.  That was where he drew value from -- being deft at protecting his friends.  It really defined him.

What is something that your character does as often as possible and why?
Go camping or adventuring with friends -- preferably out into nature.  Brings back the camping of the gang in his youth.  Saphir also feels that its pure with no family politics or deceitful people.  Even the wild creatures and/or natural dangers are straight forward -- clean in their intent and interpretation -- much more to his liking.  Also, there is the allure of relying on fast survival instincts.

Describe something that your character respects?  Why?
Army/military/war-unity.  Saphir values the brotherhood in a purpose, cause or collective common cause.  The critical importance of survival and watching each others backs.

Describe something that your character holds in contempt?  Why?
Politics, family machinations, backstabbing and deceit.  This is where the most loyalty and unity should be, so it's the ultimate blasphemy or heresy of loyalty and relationship when these occur.  He saw much of this in his direct family and it still disturbs him.

What makes your character laugh?
Friends -- joking and drinking together.  Physical comedy, especially friends when they are mocking and teasing each other familiarly about their foibles and mannerisms.

Describe one of your character's nightmares.
Being caught by the Gamalek and killed slowly.  As Saphir is about to be
bled out, the creature's master comes up to stand next to it, hand resting affectionately on its head.  His mother, Llewella.

What does your character want out of life?  What would their legacy be?
To unify peoples in harmonious allegiance.  Saphir wants his legacy to be
having defeated great enemies and rid the kingdom of internal strife and treachery.  Thus allowing for a great unity to ensue.

How would your character describe the perfect death?
Dying while fighting to protect the back of your closest companion who is back up against you, fighting furiously to protect your back as well.  And you both laugh crazily as your blades in unison cut down endless opponents.  Until, at last, you both fall.

What would your character want their epitaph to read?
HERE LIES SAPHIR, FRIEND TO MANY, BROTHER IN ARMS, FIERCEST ALLY, DEVOTED HEART
