Chapter Three:  A Cold Wind Blows

            Nero couldn’t stop bleeding once he started. Becoming alarmed, he moved the
house to one of the outer shadows of the Golden Circle shadows.
            He let his people know that somehow reality has changed, but didn’t know if it is just effecting Amber royalty or more.  He sought out a magic healer, who said that the nature of his circulatory system had changed.  So that Nero could only stop the bleeding by corking it.
            Nero decided he needed to see some other royal member of the Amber family bleed to see what happens…  Dispatched assassins to hit Ekin…the only unprotected one he knows of, having heard about the harbor fire and Ekin's naval exploits.
              Martin, Merlin and Toeval met with the Queen.  They told her the situation and
all about the weird dust crystal on Martin and that they thought he should walk the Pattern.  They discussed that when a stranger came a calling…
              In walked Saphir…
            But, backing up…
            Saphir had time on his hands until the rendezvous with his compatriots.  So, he sought out Queen Vialle.  She didn’t look so good.  They talked of his upcoming ride into Chaos.  She seemed happy that he was going to do it.  Saphir talked of looking for Merlin and she seemed to say that was good.  But was holding back on that point…
            He asked if he could help in other ways.  She said going and guiding less
mature Singh and Ekin would help.
            He said he wondered why other members of the royal family didn’t help.
And were they maybe behind some of this.
            But Queen said that they were all aligned and doing different things to help in this situation.  And that Saphir shouldn’t assume they were up to old tricks.  Oook…
            He left and started to search with sense/psyche for others in castle.  Saphir found a strange presence that lead him back to Queen's room.  He knocked.  A strange voice answered.  He went in and found...
            The Queen, Martin, Toeval and Merlin??? They began to all talk.  Vialle seemed nervous and dishonest, as if caught kind of.
            As they talked, Martin and Saphir felt a tremor in Reality.
            Then Fiona burst in and said, “I am going to kill her!” and burst out.
              Ekin was visited by his mother, Princess Florimel.  She was upset for him that he lost his commission, but happy that he wasn't going to Chaos.  They hung out.  Ekin got annoyed.
 


            Singh went to hang in Arden.  Bataar -- her *horse* -- was very nervous and jittery, so they moved off.  And ended up on Kolvir.  Singh laid down to stargaze, amazingly enough beheld Tir-na Nog'th.  She climbed the stairs and at the top, yelled out, ”Dworkin are you here??”
            She saw a blue glow leading her down the path.  She was drawn there. She discovered a Pattern.  Then she came upon a re-enactment of the confrontation between Benedict and Brand, and noticed the necklace around Brand's neck.  With a
black whole at its center.
            She saw Brand immobilize Benedict.  Benedict's metallic arm grabbed
Brand.  They sank through the floor.
            Brand narrated quips to her.
            Singh got more tunnel vision and channeled the Pattern to use it for strength.  After it passed -- her sensing seemed to work -- she felt like something was missing.
            Exiting, she saw Brand's confrontation with the Royals at the Abyss.  He took arrow in the eye and fell down the Abyss, taking Deirdre with him.
            Singh heard Brand say, "2nd fall.”
            She replied, "Final Fall.”
            As Singh was coming back down the steps, she got into a fight with Fiona,
who dragged her back into the Queen's chamber.
