A BRIEF HISTORY

from the past are usually steamrolled while the rest of us try like hell not
to repeat the same old mistakes. Take note.

Prehistory: Amber, the so-called Eternal City, has existed for as long as anyone can remember. It was ruled for thousands of years by long-lived monarchs.
2,000 Years Ago: The Kingdom of Amber discovers the Golden Circle. The fact that Amber and other realms are interconnected across "Shadow" is revealed.
1,997 Years Ago: This new era is marked as Amber's New Dawn. A dating system known as A.D. (Amber Dawn) beginning at year 0, is adopted by Amber and the Golden Circle Kingdoms.
42 A.D.: The first inter-kingdom symposium on science is held. Differences are discovered and compared between kingdoms, where it seems that physical laws differ.
1492 A.D.: First working internal combustion engine. Age of technology begins.
1776-1783 A.D.: Revolutionary War in Amber and across the Golden Circle Kingdoms. Rich landowners overthrow King George of Amber and other regents.
1787 A.D. A Constitutional Convention establishes the United States of Amber. Castle Amber becomes the new Congressional Building.
1962 A.D. A National Security Agency operative, the man who would become Agent Omega discovers a secret room beneath the Congressional Building, a room enclosing a glowing Pattern on the floor. He stares into the Pattern and feels changed and enhanced. The Pattern is established to cause paranormal abilities in a small percentage of people.
1963 A.D. Division Six of the NSA is established to investigate and protect the Pattern under the direction of Agent Omega. Agent O chases a perpetrator past the Golden Circle and discovers there is an infinity of Shadow beyond.
1964 A.D. Division Six becomes the Men in Amber, dedicated to protecting Amber from the scum of Shadow.
1969 A.D. Rumors reach the MiA of a realm named Chaos in the nether realms of Shadow. Agent O perishes under mysterious circumstances. His younger brother joins the MiA.
1970 A.D. Agent B locates Chaos at the far side of Shadow. Chaosians seem to exhibit similar paranormal powers to those who have Imprinted on the Pattern. Agent B meets the Hellmaiden Lintra. He returns to Amber missing an arm after the encounter. Despite this difficult first contact, tenuous diplomatic relations are established between Chaos and the MiA.
